What an extraordinary weekend of music! The Hank Marvin Gypsy Jazz ensemble, led by the iconic Hank Marvin on lead guitar, delivered not one but two spellbinding performances at Perth’s best-kept secret—Centrestage Recording Studios. Joining Hank was the remarkably talented Nunzio Mondia on accordion, Gary Taylor on rhythm guitar, and guest bassist Robbie Pisano, each contributing to an unforgettable musical experience.
The ensemble’s intricate and masterfully arranged compositions took the audience on a journey through the captivating world of Gypsy Jazz. The full-house audiences were enthralled by the virtuosic skill, infectious enthusiasm, and sheer joy radiating from the stage. The group’s ability to effortlessly blend complexity with charm left concertgoers in awe. It was truly heartwarming to see so many familiar faces in the crowd, along with a host of new guests discovering the magic of Centrestage for the very first time.
As a special treat for those lucky enough to secure their tickets early, there was exclusive post-concert access to an intimate meet-and-greet session with the ensemble. The energy in the room was electric, as both performances sold out quickly, leaving many eager fans on the waiting list. This growing demand is a promising sign of the exciting future that lies ahead for our beloved hidden gem.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to our artistic director, Nunzio Mondia, whose vision and dedication made these spectacular Hank Marvin Gypsy Jazz concerts possible. We wish the ensemble continued success as they embark on their South Australian tour in October.
